We are supporting a global leader in digital engineering and enterprise modernisation to appoint an experienced Principal Architect (Data Platforms / Banking) for their Sydney team. This position plays a critical role in defining enterprise data architecture strategy and delivering cloud native, AI ready data platforms within a large scale Banking and Finance technology environment. The Principal Architect will own the architecture from strategy through delivery, embedding security, auditability, and resilience by design. Your key responsibilities: Define and own enterprise data architecture strategy and roadmap for Banking operations, covering data modelling, integration, and platform design Design and deliver cloud native, AI ready data platforms with embedded security, auditability, and resilience Architect and deliver an event driven, Data Mesh aligned data product ecosystem Provide architecture leadership including governance, modelling, domain driven design, and event driven architecture patterns Lead data platform modernisation initiatives including streaming technology adoption and observability Apply deep domain expertise in reconciliations, operations, and controls within Banking environments Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, data, and business teams to align architecture with organisational objectives Mentor and guide engineering teams on architecture best practices, design patterns, and technology standards Your role requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline 20 or more years of experience in enterprise data architecture and platform delivery within the Banking or Finance domain Proven expertise in designing and delivering event driven, Data Mesh aligned data product ecosystems at enterprise scale Strong hands on experience with Databricks, Confluent, and Apache Kafka Proficiency in C# and .NET development within data platform contexts Experience with LangChain and Flowable or equivalent AI orchestration and workflow automation technologies Deep domain knowledge in Banking reconciliations, operations, and controls Demonstrated architecture leadership capability including governance, domain driven design, and enterprise data modelling Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence at senior levels What's on offer: Opportunity to lead enterprise scale data architecture initiatives within a major Banking programme Exposure to cutting edge data platforms, streaming technologies, and AI tooling Collaborative and high performing team environment based in Sydney Long term career development and leadership progression within a global organisation A competitive salary package How to apply: To express your interest, please use the apply button.
